State Crowns Junior Champions

State Junior Championships were completed at the Portage Curling Club on December 28-29.  On the girls' side the defending champions blazed through the double round robin draw with an undefeated record to claim their second state title.  Jenna Haag will lead her team Blackhawk team with Chloe Pahl, Grace Gabower, Erin Wallace and Brittany Falk to the Junior National Championship at Wayland, MA.

A new champion was crowned on the boys' side when Jeremy Stubbe's team from Wausau outlasted  the defending champs, Evan Jensen - Medford by a score of 13-12 in a tie-breaker which featured  6 lead changes and multiple scores in 7 of the 10 ends.  Jensen's final draw needed to touch the 4-foot, but was just a bit heavy.  Curling with Stubbe were Ryan Kernosky, Andrew Summers and Evan Brauer.  The Stubbe team also will be representing Wisconsin in the Junior National Championship which is set for Jan. 26- Feb.2.
