Wisconsin U-18 and Junior Championships have begun in Wausau

Curling action got underway on Dec. 27 at the Wausau Curling Center, as the first draw began at 3:00PM.  5 boys teams and 4 girls teams comprise the field,  nd are competing for the Wisconsin Junior Championships.  In addition all of the teams meet the age requirements for U-18, so all teams are also competing for spots at the U-18 National Championships scheduled for Bemidji, MN in February.  The top two boys and girls teams will qualify for the U-18 National Championships.

Picking up wins in the first draw were Wesley Wendling (Wausau), over his brother William, and Trevor Marquardt (Poynette) over Carson Heinze (Kettle Moraine).   In the girls bracket, Samantha Jones (Poynette) defeated Celeste Taylor (Wausau) and Suzanna Viau (Stevens Point) won over Andrea McDonald(Madison).
