The Madison Curling Club Foundation is sponsoring level 1 and level 2
instructor clinics. Level 1 instructors learn techniques on teaching
new curlers, hosting open houses, beginner leagues, junior curling and
more. Level 2 instructors learn to teach proper delivery techniques,
video tape analysis, sweeping, timing and basic strategy. These
certifications are beneficial to you as a curler, to the club and are a
must for anyone coaching or thinking about getting into coaching. More
information can be found on the USCA website under the training.
Any curler with a couple years on the ice is eligible to attend the
level 1 clinic. The level 2 clinic requires that you have taken the
level 1 course and have had at least one year experience teaching. This
is a requirement by the instructor and from the USCA. I am working on
hosting these clinics again next year so there will be opportunities to
take the level 2 next year for those people that take the level 1 this year.
These courses will be advertised to other clubs and on the USCA website
so don't delay if you want to sign up.
