Junior Curling

The 2024 qualifier will be held in Stevens Point this year on Dec 7-8.  Registration for the event is done through the USCA website and Sport 80 (registration closes mid Nov).  The winners of the event will represent Wisconsin at the U18 National event at the Rock Creek Curling Club in Colorado in January.  Age restrictions for the event are that the athlete must not turn 18 before July 1, 2024.  Team restrictions from the USCA include that at least 2 of the team members need to have Wisconsin residence.  WSCA requires that all of the members have a WI club membership, but does not require all players to be league playing members.  This is a requirement as the WSCA financially supports the clubs that host the qualifying events/state championship.  If you have any  questions, please contact Jim Wendling at 715-297-5757 or at jwendling72@gmail.com

Attention Junior Curlers:

This is your page on the WSCA website!  It is a free form page which is designed to have content targeted to Junior Curlers.   If you have content you wish to have displayed on the website, please send it to Mark Hartman, on the website contact form.

If you have a flier for your own Junior Bonspiel, you can publish it here.  Are you looking for teammates?  Here is your chance to let others know.

Junior curling in Wisconsin, such as High School curling, has been in existence since the early 1950s and continues strong today.  High School curling differs from "Junior Curling" in that the teams are made up of four curlers (all girls or all boys) from the same school district or high school.  High School Curling ultimately results in the Wisconsin High School Championships, usually contested at the Wausau Curling Center.  There are separate divisions for boys' and girls' teams.  There is no national high school championship at this time.

Additionally, there are competitions for Juniors U18  (Under age 18) and Juniors U21 (ages up to 21).  These competitions are  managed by the USCA (United States Curling Associations).   State and Regional Junior Playdowns are held to determine qualifiers for the U18 and U21 National Championships.  U21 National Champions can qualify for the Junior World Championships.

Junior curlers can compete in both the high school championships and for the National Playdowns.
