Expanding the Curling Community in Chippewa Falls

Driving off the energy from last year’s Eau Claire Curling Club season, some enthusiasts from Chippewa Falls are creating an opportunity for area curlers to brush up during the off-season. Working with the area hockey rink (CYHA), it was decided to put the ice on two months early this year.

Starting August 21, Chippewa Falls will be hosting a 10 week league. Also, the Chippewa Club is working hard to put together their first annual Oktoberfest Bonspiel.

Congratulations to the Samantha Jones and Wesley Wendling rinks on capturing the Wisconsin U-18 and Wisconsin U-21 (Bucky) championships in Wausau, Dec. 27-30. The Wendling Team hails from the Wausau Curling Center while the Jones team represented the Portage, Poynette, and Appleton curling clubs. These teams now move on to the National U-18 Championships which will be staged at the Chaska (MN) Curling Club, Mar. 12-17. The Medford Curling Club is hosting the WSCA Senior Bonspiel on January 18-20.  The event is planned to have 32 teams, with  the oldest average ages in the Masters category.  Click on the link below for an entry form.

Wausau to host Wisconsin Junior Championships: U18 and U21 Teams are Invited!

The Wausau Curling Center will again be hosting the Wisconsin Junior Championships this year.  Dates are Dec. 27-30, 2018.  Championships for both U18 and U21 teams take pace at the same time.  If you are involved with a Junior Team, and are interested in State Playdowns, click on the links below for complete information!

Here's a notice for all curlers planning to register for Wisconsin Playdown events this season.    Sign-ups for the following Wisconsin events are made  through the USCA website through the Blue Sombrero system.  These events are:  Wisconsin U-18 Boys and Girls Playdowns (Dec. 27-30, Wausau);  Wisconsin Men's and Women's Club Championships (Dec. 13-16, Waupaca);  and the Wisconsin Mixed Playdowns (Feb. 1-3, Stevens Point).
